This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Traditional Skills.

They didn't have duct tape or silicone caulk 400 years ago so how did they seal up things to hold water in or out?  They used pine pitch.  Let's make some!

Here's one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a golf ball sized wad of pine pitch
  - This bb can only use materials that existed 200 years ago

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The pine tree with congealed sap
  - Mixing the sap with charcoal and possibly fiber
  - Heating the concoction
  - Finished pine pitch stick with something to show that the size is at least a golf ball

Come have lunch with me Arthur. Adventure will follow. This tiny ad:
