New song by Formidable Vegetable, "All I want for Christmas is Used"

Buy it HERE: Bandcamp page for Formidable Vegetable

Some lyrics from it

It’s time to give, it’s time to share
Presents, presents, presents, presents everywhere
But if you wanna give me something
I don’t need it box fresh or brand new
There’s already so much stuff
When’s enough stuff enough?
As long as it comes with love
All I want for gifts is
Used, edible, homemade or original
Something indelible
Doesn’t need to be physical
Used, edible, homemade or original

I LOVE IT!!
One year for xmas my mom gave me a gift certificate for a local thrift store, I didn't even know they offered them! Was excellent!
Used totally works for me, I prefer it.
Excellent song, and Formidable Vegetable are a permaculture band, worth supporting.
:D
Staff note (Pearl Sutton) :

And I think I fouled up the exchange rate, no clue how much I just paid them. Ah well, it's a good cause.

Thank you for sharing this, Pearl! Love, love, love Formidable Vegetable! More people need to know about them. Their digital album(s) would also make excellent Christmas presents for any permie people on one's list!

Yup! I love them too! I have no clue how many times I have linked "No Such Thing as Waste" here on Permies.  That's a deep song for me. I use words from it when I talk to people about reusing things (mostly when I'm asking them for their trash!)

It's a year later, Christmas is coming up again, and again, all I want is used!

I'd like some old wool blankets, I need more bricks, I'm looking for a certain type of sweater to cut up...

How much of what you'd want is used?

Used BOOKS!

Because a lot of my favorites are really old--especially books for homeschooling. The most amazing titles were written in the 1950s-1970s on all topics, authors were writing about things that excited them assuming that children were very intelligent creatures who would be inspired too if they could only see what the author saw. I could give a whole list of vintage titles we love, but this is not the thread for that, ha!

And I love Victorian literature, particularly the novels of Anthony Trollope...all used and cheap, cheap, cheap!

I love it! Never heard of them before but I am an instant fan!
When my family asks me what I want, I’m sending them that song.

I have never been a “thing” giver because I can’t stand shopping. I always give money.

Fun song! I remember them from a few years back. Thanks for sharing this!

I'm a bit of an OfferUp junkie lately. On my used wish list are a greenhouse, chicken coop, ollas, a tortilla press, wood chips, flagstone pavers, and of course, plants and saplings of all kinds!

Most of my family refuse to give used gifts, no matter what I ask for or how I word it. Still working on them, though. My mom and mother-in-law like thrift store shopping and keep an eye out for things on my wishlist. They just give those items to me on random days instead of recognized holidays. This year, my mom found a few nice bed sheets from my list, and they all bless us with used children's clothes and toys for my daughter.

Love the sentiments of the song!

I'm from Australia Down Under and seeing Formidable Vegetable on here is a wonderful surprise, I have followed them for years through local events and through our Gardening Australia show on ABC TV.

Charlie Mgee, the band's ecological edutainer grew up off-grid and has a lot of knowledge he and his band members pass on really complex issues all broken down into easy to understand fun songs that globally spread the permie ethic of simple solutions for living. You can check out his TEDX 2019 talk about this.

My family took this to heart this Christmas and I got four 6 x 3 feet garden beds from recycled railway sleepers put in.

I also got given all the soap scraps saved over the past year from both sons and have had a great time with the grandkids melting them down and adding spent coffee grinds, lavender oil and orange oil to the mixes, and pouring the mixes into moulds to cure - for more 'new' soaps, a great afternoon during their holiday time.

What other recycled things have others received they have appreciated?

I'm late bumping this thread this year.
I have not even gone into a normal store this year. Thrift stores, clearance stores and dumpster finds.
Christmas dinner will feature dessert made from some of the neighbor's decor squash from her yard.
Fall Decor Pumpkins/squash that are excellent eating

Holidays are supposed to be fun, not expensive :D
