I sharpened my knife with sandpaper and a whetstone! I included a video of it cutting paper to demonstrate sharpness.

“There are no words to express the abyss between isolation and having one ally. It may be conceded to the mathematician that four is twice two. But two is not twice one; two is two thousand times one.”

Mike Barkley approved this submission. Note: FYI ... I suggest not using sandpaper to sharpen knives unless there is no other option. Fine emory cloth would be a better choice. The whetstone alone will do an excellent job of sharpening & extending the life of the knife.

Sharpening my favorite knife given to me by my dear friend who has a "collection" of knives. I cut veggies with it alllll day long and need it to be very sharp. I focused on getting the tip a bit sharper but sharped the whole knife of course.

the tip is not very shiny, will be shiny-er when more sharp
I used a Dual sided wet stone and strops that I made out of wood and leather. The knife is made from an old circular sawblade, and thus is carbon steel -so it rusts easily and dulls quicker. I left it on a camp stove recently and thought the stove was off, and alas it was on - so that's why there is coloring in the blade!
I used the rougher side of the stone first to do the grunt of the work removing the metal, then flipped it over to the smoother side and added water after every 10 strokes or so.
After i was satisfied with the blade having a decent edge and a burr, I worked it on the two strops and was pleased with the edge I got.
What a difference it makes to have a sharp knife! It slices much much easier now.
Someone approved this submission. Note: The dull pic is a little weak but since it was done at PTJ with guidance & the final cut looks very nice I'm going to certify it.
Someone flagged this submission as an edge case BB. BBV price: 0 Note: We need a better close up pic of the finished edge or a nice clean final cut on the paper.
What is that? Is that a mongol horde? Can we fend them off with this tiny ad?
