Hey all,

My name is Chris and I got a serious bite from the permaculture bug.

There's a lot of problems I see with the world around me and I have a personal mission to give more back to the earth than I took from it in this life. I see permaculture as a solution to much of this and the next path on my journey. I'm very thankful to be here and to all here who contribute to it. I love learning and am a natural teacher, so I will be paying it forward

I'm an office engineer in a small apartment and will be purchasing land within the next couple years with my partner. I am focused on gaining knowledge, experience, and skills to create a permaculture aligned lifestyle, which includes replacing my engineering job. It is my dream, but one that looks achievable.

Wish me luck!

Thanks,
Chris

Welcome to Permies! If you're interested in developing your skills for a permaculture lifestyle, consider doing the SKIP program. It features a list of specific tasks organized into categories like gardening, woodworking, commerce, community, and more. By doing the tasks you can learn some stuff and demonstrate to others here your permaculture skills!

Good luck Chris and welcome to Permies!
There are quite a few of us former and actual engineers on the site.  I myself used to work for a gas guzzling auto manufacturer. But one thing better than making gas guzzlers is making ones that last longer and break down less, so do the job you do as best you can while you do it.. Without engineers there would be no laptops or phones to communicate as we are.
I know it can be frustrating when you itch to get your hands in real soil to be surrounded by concrete and people who appear not to care, but it looks like there is plenty going on in NYC.

Wow, this is impressive! I really like the looks of the program and although I don't have a goal to inherit land from someone, I still think it would be beneficial for me to participate in at some level. Thanks!

I just bought this book a week ago, so I unfortunately missed the 25% off

Thank you for the recommendation and I look forward to digging into it!
