Are there any heirloom carrots that have larger seeds? I find carrots quite difficult to sow because the seeds are the size of dust. Parsnips are in the same family and the seeds are way larger. Has anyone tried selecting for seed size as well as taste with carrots?

One thought I have is just don't clean the seed. Before cleaning it is much larger.

Interesting idea. I don’t think I’ve had any go to seed on me. Maybe I’ll keep some around and try that :-)

They are bigger with the fuzz on them but I think they stick together more which may still make planting a pain.  Last year I just broadcast a ton of seed and just thinned the bed out later.  That's where saving your seed really makes sense.  I saved seed from about 30 carrots two summers ago and I have a gallon of seed.

FYI Chris, they are biennial so you get seed on the second year.
