I'm working on my Commerce PEP badge.   But I'm stumped on what I can do (or possibly have already done) for the internet section.  

I need to "perform some sort of labor over the internet and get paid at least $100" (that's US dollars).


Is there anything I can do that someone would pay me money to do?

  • I suppose I could consult about textiles - People pay me for that in real life.  But is there anyone online interested in this?
  • I have access to some powerful permies tools and limited permission to abuse that power.  I could abuse my permies power to help someone promote their stuff.  Who would pay money for that?


    • These options are highly stressful for me, so I think the minimum I would charge is $25(USD) for half an hour.  Because it's never half an hours work.  There are the emails, the agreements, the prep, the loose ends.

  • I also have writing skills (so long as someone else can edit away dyslexia).  I've written for magazines before, but that's always been on a trade basis.  I do enjoy writing and this would be a good way to promote my books.


    • This is less stressful.  But how do I find someone?  Worse, how do I know what is interesting to people?  


    Anyway, tossing this idea out there.  You guys probably know me better than anyone.  What skills do I have that people would pay money for?

    Look at upwork.com or fiverr.com - lots and lots of things that people do that they get paid for remotely.  

    But for this particular BB, it has to be a a wage income.  Something that somebody pays for your time.  

    Maybe a custom dye or custom fiber?

    Does the pay have to be in cash? Barter items have a market value, so if you did a job for someone and they paid you in say honey or maple syrup and the fair market value of those items totaled $100, would that count?

    What about the sale of your cleaning book?  Or does it have to be $100 all in one go?

    I think it has to be some sort of wage work where I get paid for my time.

    Keep the brain storm coming!  There's got to be something I can do online to earn that cash.  

    I am very good at copywriting first drafts.  That's something I do in my real life wage work for someone who is awesome at editing, but will spend hours a day, for weeks on end, staring at a blank screen just to get the first draft done.

    Although I am several months away from launching, and my budget is small, I would GLADLY pay you a small sum for writing a guest blog post, or short video for Youtube(nothing fancy, and could be about whatever you want in the farming/crafting realm).

    Growing on my small acre in SW USA; Fruit/Nut trees w/ annuals, Chickens, lamb, pigs; rabbits and in-laws onto property soon.

    Wonderful!  I wrote you back.  This is going to be fun.  I enjoy your posts on permies.

    I wouldn't mind trying my hand at a few other things as a way of diversifying my income for this badge.  I'm also curious to try new things to see if I find anything I like doing.  I'm not good at putting myself out there so I don't know what I would be good at.

    Another skill I have is finding, reproducing and documenting bugs (and  things that cause PEBKAS bugs) in software.  I make a great idiot for idiot proofing software.

    But would someone pay me to break things?

    Might be a much bigger time commitment than you're looking for, but as much as you help on permies.com, I bet some burnt-out website admin would pay you to moderate a forum or two of theirs.
