[Sold!] handwoven wool shawl...naturally dyed...US shipping only

$10 plus shipping (only in the states) and for the moment only check or money order.

This handwoven piece is 21" by 84" and all wool, dyed with walnut hulls, it's a two ply commercial wool not handspun...the lightest shade is the natural wool and then consecutive dye baths of walnut. The colors in my photos are really close...somewhere in between the first photo and the warmer looking ones.  This could be easily overdyed with another natural dye.

I have machine washed and tumbled in a drier three times to try to felt...the weave is nice and tight but no real felting.  I always thought I would make something from it, a vest maybe, but it's become one of too many projects in the works.

I started twisting the fringe...one would want to finish if continuing to wash as each time I washed I had to untangle fringe.

The wool is not super soft but nice...I found it softened a bit more washing with soap nuts and warm water but is probably as soft as it will get...not 'harsh' just not as soft as some wools.

Carla, I'll send you a PM with my address...I'll send priority mail as the postage seems about the same as regular and sometimes they treat the packages better.  I think shipping will likely be another $10 but will find out for certain when I go up to the post office later.

I have lots of bits and pieces from more than thirty years of weaving...always fun to revisit a piece and remember how it was done, give up my plans for it, etc. and then move it on....I don't feel that attachment like I used to.  My family has more of my weavings than are really useful and I gave up doing production weaving quite a few years ago so am happy to make things affordable to anyone interested.
