What do you think this is? Looks like ironweed to me but the leaves don't look quite right. Thanks!

I think it probably is ironweed. There are several species.

You don't say what region you are in but around here we also have wild aster that looks very similar to that.

It might be iron weed as others have said although you might check out joe pye weed just for comparison

I've always wished all of the iron weed here was joe pye because of it's medicinal qualities but no luck in my area of the Ozarks


The first photo does look similar to a wild aster as Lorne suggests.
The color looks different in the second picture?
