This morning, this bird landed in the top of one of our taller old oak trees. I can't figure out what it is, and I've tried several apps, including Merlin & Audobon. About the size of a hawk or raven, but the break is wrong for a raptor and the color is more reds & browns, with black in the tail. It perched up there for about 10 minutes, before flying off. I'm within a few hundred miles of the center of the contiguous 48 states.

I've never seen a robin that big. This guy was the size of a hawk.

Those oak leaves must be huge then!
The leaves are a bit closer to the camera - so the perspective may be a little off - but, my estimation of the size may be a bit skewed, too - but the size of the bird, in flight, was what caught my attention. At this point - especially since I haven't seen it, since - I'm just confused, and it doesn't seem worth pursuing. I think whatever it was, it was just passing through.
