Good New Year to all doing this program.
I joined a few months ago just to search community out there online. Common interest threads n such. You can read my posts there are not many.
Over the last weeks reflections I have decided to put out an opportunity to various spots. I like permies so here ya go.
In October I lost my Dad. He was the last of my Family and there is no one bloodline that I will be leaving any property to. When I was at my lawyers doing a will I realized my special spot better go to someone who appreciates it.
For a quick background I purchased 7 acres in the center of Portugal for my Parents to retire. It was a slow project but in a great spot. 4 years ago my Mom Died so my Dad and I continued. Then covid ensued caused the chaos we all felt. He got sick from a medical clinic visit and passed. Sad times.

We never started the final plans of cottages and now I am looking for a next generation that I could provide a unique possibility for their generational wealth. Its kind of a blank canvas with good infrastructure.

We finished a great workshop that is now a cottage fully operational offgrid. I live here now.

There are so many things to discuss with anyone interested. My question is.. Is, anyone interested in moving to Portugal and making a commitment to a long term plan?

My location is 3 kms to Nazare in the Alcobaca region. Silver Coast Portugal.

First off, I’m truly sorry to hear of the passing of your parents. It sounds like you all shared similar passions and a beautiful dream; no doubt they are still with you every step of the way.
This sounds like a truly magical opportunity. I am single with 2 dogs, highly motivated, and have always been drive to pursue my passion of creating something amazing from seemingly nothing.
I have years of experience subbing in for contract work and just had a similar opportunity fall through here in Canada- I was hoping to build on a friends property- straw bale, cob, or something simply to fly under the permit limits just to get things started, but then life took an unexpected turn and that offer was retracted unfortunately.
I am certainly not opposed to living abroad, as long as my 4 legged’s could make the trip with me.
This has become a long winded introduction, but in short, I am interested

Thank you for your time and reading.

Amanda

I'm deeply sorry to hear of your parents passing so close to one another. How challenging and sad for you, im so sorry especially when you had such a beautiful dream and vision to share together
Sending healing prayers to your heart

I was in Portugal with my son looking for somewhere to build a retreat centre at the same time you would have been building yours. Unfortunately covid stopped our travel so unable to continue our search we ended up in Spain to be close to my daughter. The lack of water was a no for me but we Ended up staying there for 2 yrs.
3.5 years later we still have not found the perfect spot for our dream retreat but we are still looking

My daughter does permaculture and plans to grow organic produce and herbs and start a small education center for sustainability and my son is a tantric yoga coach. I'm a sound and voice  healing practitioner and we are all big fans of detoxing, organic health and sustainable living.
I'm very interested in learning more about your place and would be interested in becoming the new guardian if the location and price was right thank you so much Jen

I'm sorry to hear your parents passed away and that you have no one to pass your property to. Currently, I own an apartment in the Swedish countryside, but am looking to move further south permanently in the future. I'm from a family that has worked a lot with managing their own properties. My grandparents on my father's side had a beautiful off-grid house in southern Sweden. Unfortunately, they lost it when my grandfather passed away and his spouse was unable to care for it on her own. I'm actively looking for new ways to develop my SKIP skills and Portugal is relatively close (it also hosts the CONSOLFOOD solar cooking conference every 2 years).

I haven't obtained my own homestead property yet, but I have friends who do (they're still stuck with massive mortgages, while my home is debt-free). My spouse and I are location independent (we both do all our work online), so we can both move on very short notice. I run a blog and Youtube-channel about solar cooking and self-sufficiency.

I don't have my PEP badges yet, and I'm pretty sure I don't have all the skills necessary to take on your property right away. But I'd love to visit and share my knowledge, my help and my time in return for learning more about how to manage your property. I'll send you a message and perhaps we can take it from there.

Hello Larry!

Losing close family members is really hard. I am grateful that you are willing to open up the opportunity to share this dream with others. The pictures you have posted are beautiful. What a wonderful place to live among so many plants. I am so glad you are there to enjoy it all.

My partner and I have been looking into moving to Portugal from the US since it has the easiest pathway to EU citizenship. Neither of us have any generational wealth to buy our way in at half a million dollars a piece. It takes five years to establish citizenship. We have been saving up to afford all the fees in getting the process started and would like to visit for the first time this winter of 2023.

We are two folks in our forties with a five year old dog. The two of us met in art school twenty some years ago studying sculpture. We have worked on large projects mixing and pouring over 40,000 pounds of concrete for a professors project in a remote location. Our marriage is solid, we are great friends and actually love each other.

I have worked for other artists, foundries, sculptors and taught art for a decade while also working as a contractor building, repairing and restoring all kinds of houses. I have spent two summers in Taos learning how to build earthships with Micheal Reynolds and I am one step away from being certified by building my own earthship structure requiring land to do that on.

My spouse is the first generation off of the farm, a girl scout gold award and an avid camper. She is working remotely using computers having designed 311 info across the US, the healthcare software for Sweden, and is currently building AI software to help manage medical records. Both of us are musicians as well singing and playing several instruments.

If you would like to know more about us and share more about yourself please reach out. Hope you have a wonderful summer. Thanks so much!

Hello. Sounds like you are on a great path. What a fulfilling project. I'm looking for people like you. I'd consider relocating with all my tools and skills for the right project. I've been studying, teaching, designing, and building natural buildings for over 20 years. I promote permaculture design. I help folks get set up on their land, and am about ready to find a place my partner and I feel comfortable settling down. She's a holisitc health coach. We're in our mid fourties, have tons of skills and knowledge to share. We're attracted to this part of the world. We are now living in Vancouver, WA. Please see our websites: EarthenHand.com and BodyPurePrana.com.

Let's start with a conversation.

All the best!

Hi Larry, I am so sorry for your losses. It sounds like a beautiful place you've built. I am from Sintra, Portugal just south of where you are at. My siblings and I are looking for a place to implement our extensive knowledge of land restoration, regenerative agriculture, natural building and food forest systems. Unfortunately, due to the large-scale gentrification of our country happening with the turism industry boom, we are unable to afford land in our own home town. I would love to connect with you via email! Please contact me at sylvaticaforestfarm at gmail dot com.
much love!

Hello Larry!
Im sorry life didnt work as planned and one cant share moments with the ones we love as they depart.
Im really new to this forum and ended up here accidentally minutes after registring my account (for real!).

Im a 31yo portuguese person. Im living with my partner at his parents house. He is an agrorcologist (mainly working for associations of development) and Im a designer interested in Permaculture, specifically, I enjoy redesigning the post consumer water cycle, you see.
In here we have several small gardens, a agroforest he installed with his father. We’re for less then a year, so we’re doing things as we see the need.

We have no prospects of buying property because prices are too high, banks wont even lend us enough - not without sacrificing our plans for it in the first place.
I would like to show you who I am and what I do, what Ive managed to do so far, hoping youll consider me for your project.
We’re living in Algarve, Aljezur.
My email is anarpmendes at gmail dot com
And my phone number is 00351 918 644 047
