My wife and I share a birthday (though she's a year older) so we tend to celebrate more, I think, than most adults do. This past Saturday, I turned 53. And I thought the cluster of loot I received was sufficiently permaculture and adjacent that I ought to show it off here.

I think anyone would agree, this is the most blatantly permaculture-oriented of the gifts.

My daughter is teaching herself to sew and embroider and she made this small sipper bag for me. It's adorbs!

My mother in law sent this book. I haven't done more than flip through it, but I'm interested in the subject.

My wife got me a couple Metalbirds. I don't guess I can really link them to permaculture, but at least they're for decorating the homestead. :)

Belated Happy Birthday to you both.
It's lovely that people are taking the trouble to get you things that you will appreciate!

I don't think adults put enough emphasis on birthdays. Your two options are drinking/partying or forgetting about it. Like what is that? Are you really so miserable with your life that you can't celebrate one day out of the year that you get the blessing of being alive?
And we don't celebrate each other enough, either. If your friend/loved one is having a birthday, show them how much they mean to you! It baffles me that this is such a foreign concept to people!
Anyway Happy Birthday lol looks like some great stuff!

This really resounds with me at the moment; I'm having a bit of rouble with this. My husband's birthday is next week and I'm still baffled as to what to give him. When he doesn't need anything, and he'd rather buy his own toys tools. I'm trying to think of treats for him, but he doesn't even want to spend time on trivia at the moment.

When I’m in this position, I fall back on premium edibles*. Most everyone likes to eat or drink something and once it’s gone it doesn’t clutter up their house.

* I’ve done: fruit, nuts, exotic pickles, chocolate, licorice, coffee beans, beer, wine, spirits, bread, home-grown produce (probably not for someone you live with).

Almond, thank you for this. I’m turning 30 in a couple of weeks and my thoughts until this moment were ”I will make a cake and take a trip to the tree nursery that opens that day and buy our first apple tree.”

30 years. Most of it has been a struggle but now I’m in a really good place and exited about the future. That if something is worth of celebrating.

Again, thank you.

Aw <3 That sounds like a really great birthday. Hope for the future can be elusive, so absolutely worth celebrating!
