About me:  63yo, single/divorced, 6'-2" tall, and 220lbs.  Simple (experiential minimalist), strong, fit, active, healthy, happy, optimistic, caring, loving, hard-working man.  I'm not a Vegan, but I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, and I eat a lot of fowl, fish and seafood.  I try to limit my red meat and pork consumption, but I do get a craving for pork sausage, bacon and a nice steak once in a while.  ha ha  I like to hike, cycle, camp, fish, hunt, travel, cook and anything else outdoors.  I've worked in construction for the past 40 years, so I'm used to hard work.  I can operate equipment and build just about anything with any type of materials.  I've worked abroad for the past 13 years and recently returned to the US.  I'm not limited by geography and I definitely have not decided on a specific place to put my off-grid plan into action.  If you already have land and you're looking for a partner to develop it and get off the grid, that would be great, too.

My plan:  as of July 1, 2023, I've retired from completely from the work-a-day world and the rat race.  I'm currently looking for land.  After purchasing, I'll build an sustainable small house and barn, start a garden, and raise animals/vegetables/fruit/herbs for food and for barter/sale.  There's a lot of hard work ahead, but relaxing and enjoying life is also important to me.  The satisfaction and the lifestyle result will be worth the effort.  I'd really like to find a partner that's interested in this life and this adventure with me in a monogamous relationship.

If you're a simple, happy, loving, hard-working, committed adventurer and you find my post interesting, I'd like to chat with you and see if we're compatible.  Please DM me.

Dave

Hi Dave,
My name is Esther Rovin.
I am a scenic artist, craftsperson, prop maker and set builder specializing in themed environments mostly.
Years ago I built my own house and want to do so again, but this time as energy efficient and self sustaining as possible.
My dream is buy a min of 5 acres, dedicating  most as a natural sanctuary and food forest. In my perfect dream it is an eco village but I'll settle for homestead,

To that end I have been studying permaculture and alternative building styles for several years. I was working in Malaysia in 2016 and obtained my online permaculture design  cert. I spent 2017 in Australia volunteering and working on off grid farms and properties helping to put hands-on practical application to my online education.
It was fantastic! I learned about composting, land and grey water management, animal husbandry from bees and chickens to goats and horses, I even learned some black smithing!

I'm currently looking for land, though due to finances my options are limited. I'm not a financial warrior and have been freelance most of my life so I can't retire. To that end I am currently in school studying regenerate agriculture. I have part 3 of my final exam today! Then as a Certified Lab Technician of the SoilFoodWeb  I will be able to work as a soil microbiologist from home, hopefully freeing up my work/life dream balance.  I hope to continue my education for another 2 years to become a consultant, using biomimicry thru specialized compost and compost teas to aid in soil construction and habitat propagation.

I'm currently in California, having been raised here I would love to help reforestation California and maybe bring back the beaver and other water/forest restoration.
That's said I am looking for land anywhere in the contry that's within 2 hours of a major airport (I like to travel).

I would love to find like minded partner or community, the more the merrier, and effecient!

I guess I'll sign off now.
Please reply if you feel so inspired,
Kind regards, Esther
P.S. I am 51yo, 5'8", 175, hazel eyes, happy laugh, early riser, prefer tea to coffee, similar food habits as yourself, love to dance and tend animals.

3 acres subtropical waterfront, Rio Grande delta in S Texas,3 bedroom 2 bath home very private with long driveway. for sale or rent. I like to stay here on the land cause it is such good gardening.
There is room for trailer , little house or adobe structure Fishing, kayaking, Already small foodforest in 1 year from lawn. Banana, papaya, pecan, citrus, sugar apple, pear, butternut etc. I planted. Great Farmersmarket where can sell produce and eggs etc without overhead. There used to be sheep here on 1 acre fenced in area now looks more like a forest with Mesquit etc. This land has so much to be creative in so i like to stay.  room in house rents for $400. Mexican neighbor has the  same growing and cooking spirit and we learn from and help each other . My son has his permaculture design certificate but he got a good job in California. So i am here puttering along and keep studying. I am also an acupuncturist for 30 years which I developed into needleless acupuncture. I  feel the land could be such a good farm with the right people. The soil is black clay.

Hello Dave,

If you are still interested in chatting with new aquaintances, I'd like to see how a conversation between us would flow.   I like everything you said, especially about meat and hard work and relaxing.  Smile.
I believe in balance , not extreme positions, but I also know that we seem to be entering times that are pretty unbalanced and if that's the case, there'll be nothing to substitute for having a true friend, lover and partner, all in one person, by your side.
I believe in letting Life's own timing unfold even while planning and working towards one's vision.  Mine is to go rural, get on some land, maybe near some like-minded folks and live a permaculture-inspired homesteading life that's regenerative, not only for the land, animals, plants and soil but also for my femininity and sense of wonder which has been a bit eroded lately.
I'm slowly searching as I know that the process of buying land can have some serious pitfalls and once you have it, there's lots to do to create a homestead!  My resources are not unlimited so I'm trying to avoid making a mistake.
I love gardening and fermenting things (sauerkraut, yogurt, kombucha etc,) all those little life forms happily living their own lives and enriching ours just tickles me to no end.   I also love bees and have always wanted to live in partnership with a hive or two.
I have traveled extensively in my younger decades and at 66, I'm still strong and healthy and ready to really settle in and create a beautiful, vigorous, abundant place and life with a beautiful, vigorous and abundance minded partner.
That's my offering to open up a chat.  If nothing else, it's nice to chat with other permie lovers who have the potential to become chat pals.  Be well and happy as you explore this next exciting phase of life.
Sabrina

Hi Dave, a bit late responding to your post but I’m intrigued.  I’m 56, single for many years, blind, green eyes, 5’2” but relatively strong, in good shape, have a can do attitude, own land that I deeply love in WA, and have always wanted a partner who shared my desire to live simply and sustainably and would equally invest their heart and hands on my small slice of paradise. For many years I raised most of my food including a menagerie of animals (cows, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, horses, and dogs) After my daughter grew up and moved away, I moved into a career. I’m looking forward towards retirement and settling back on my land and back into the lifestyle I love. If interested in chatting: dlhuff20@gmail.com

Wishing you well on your journey, Dawn

HI Dave,

I'm in Western MA with a nice farm, grid-tied solar, livestock, forest garden, vegetable garden, greenhouse, chicken flock, livestock guardian dogs, etc.  I have a nice shop full of tools for building stuff and I'm used to doing almost everything myself but sometimes I think it'd be nice to have a partner.  Reach out if you want to at least say hi.  I could use some friends who are thinking about land, resilience, etc for conversations.  If a friend seems to align with becoming more deeply involved it's a gift but friends are golden too.

Hi, Dave,

Well, better late than never, huh?  I also am a healthy 63 year old.  I live in southern Utah near the mouth of Zion National Park.  It is breathtaking.

The past few years have been rather transformational for me.  After working with a medical intuitive in an office/store as an alternative health consultant helping people with their Covid related illnesses, I quit to focus on my own permaculture project on a property of 2.5 acres and have 40 acres more remote that is perfect for an off grid project.

After some quiet, meditative "hermit-hood" I would love both some companionship and help...as for my personal attributes...those are things you will have to determine for yourself.

If you haven't yet found the situation that suits you, drop me a line.

Sandy

Is it me or do people post these in permaculture singles then disappear? Dave received a lot of replies, but it doesn't seem like he answered them. Maybe he "DM" ed them? Anyway, just wondering if that is one of the downsides to this particular singles forum. Idk.

They kept fire breathing monkeys as pets! This tiny ad told me so!
