Costco has a good deal on large jars.

Now foods has pretty cheap peppermint oil. It's not for internal use, mouse deterrent and aromatherapy will be fine

On the peppermint: Why not just grow some? You could use the harvest to make a concentrated spray or even distill it for the oil. Peppermint is a great multipurpose crop.

Although I do not have any great tips on finding the oils you were looking for, sorry

I was wondering how bad your mouse problem is, and if you had considered employing one of our feline friends to take care of that issue?

In college I had a serious mouse problem in my apartment. Then I rescued a stray cat that had been outside my apartment for about a week and it looked like it was about to die. Long story short, I have a very fuzzy Maine Coon cat and 0 mouse problems.

However cats can bring about some issues of there own, mostly care related. I don't know what your situation is like but a cat that has been living outside for any amount of time will definitely be able to put a dent in any mouse population. Or at the very least make the mice steer very far clear of wherever the cat hangs out, mice don't want anything to do with felines.

I have 2 cats and also need the peppermint oil! Here at the intersection of meadow and woods there are plenty of mice eager to move into any available living space. To keep them outside of interesting areas like the barn and camper I use a blend of vinegar, peppermint oil and a drop of soap. For ants I use clove oil. Sometimes I use both.

Funny cause coconut oil isn't liquid at room temp. Still, I think an ounce is an ounce.

That is what I am hoping, but these days there is a lot of cedeption in marketing, especially in the ingredients.

A certified scale is a lot cheaper than a volume measure and doesn't need extensive cleaning between different product types. Just simpler for a small business.

There is an AWFUL lot of deception when it comes to extra virgin olive oil, I trust the sources I use but you can't really be sure unless you pressed the olives yourself.

Weight is by far easier to measure than volume for sure. I will give feed back soon, as my oils should be here today. Thanks all.
Still looking for peppermint oil. Soapers is a little high I believe.

I should have had a close estimate of the oils to be delivered, as water is 8 lbs per gallon. My oils came in, and I poured the olive oil into 2, 1/2 gallon mason jars to get it out of the plastic

container, and it is just short of a gallon. I think I did well, as long as the oil is pure. The cocnut oil is in the same type container and just as full, but I cannot pour it out yet, it is still solid.

I am very pleased with the quantities, but I have not used either oil as of yet.

Thank you for all of the suggestions, and advise. I am still looking for a bargain on 100% peppermint oil. The best I've found is $40.00 on amazon from "NOW" products.

I usually buy oils through bulkapothecary.com they have very good prices and pure therapeutic grade essential oils. Good Luck!

I have been buying from tropical traditions, the 5 gallon pails are a pretty good deal, and they last a long time.

I love using coconut oil but it can be really expensive if you cant find a good source. I got 5 gallon buckets for $75 ea delivered (not a typo) from bulk apothecary. This is called 76 degree coconut oil.

I use this in cooking or anywhere I need a bulk amount. I have found it to be good quality, though they don't give much detail about it on the site. Have already burned through 5 gals of it and working on the second.

for lotion/salve/healing uses I get $18 per qt wilderness family naturals raw coconut oil, it has a slightly different consistency.

IMHO, the best coconut oil is the gold label from TropicalTraditions.com - See http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm. Personally, I buy the 1 gallon buckets. They put them on sale periodically and have the smaller glass jars on sale even more often. About once a year in early July I've been able to buy 2-for-1 gallons.
