ALAS my computer has been laid to rest

Hello All!! So my computer that I had for nearly 6 years has finally went caput (capoot? kaput?) Anyhow, that means that I will be, sadly, visiting Permies only a few times a week while at the library or if I am able to borrow a laptop & bring it home.  

I've got a plan to start my PEAs this week.  I'll be flyin' blind w/o daily access to Permies, but I'm pretty resourceful & creative when I need to be.   Keep me in your thoughts!!  --Tess

Maybe someone here could help trouble shoot a fix for your laptop if it seems at all possible to repair.....6 years doesn't seem like a very long life?
There are some very helpful techy folks here that have walked me (and others) through electronic problems in the past with success.

on the other hand, When I used to only use the library to get online it kept me very organized for my hour and it was nice at home without the distraction.

As well, the world is awash in perfectly good Windows 10 machines that can't be upgraded to Windows 11. And yes, they can still receive security updates until September 2026. After that, install Linux Mint!

Yeah, I paid 100.00 for one of those. And I have seen win 11 ewww :P

Thank you all for your input  I use my computers ALOT, as well as I just have this assumption that any tech made now adays isn't meant to last longer than 4 years tops.  

It was a gift I received as a fellow a few years back, like early 2020 or 2021.  It was very basic, no MS software, I used google docs.  But I can't complain.  It doesn't hold a charge, it glitches out; it has lived a dutiful life.  I don't plan on getting one anytime soon for several reasons, one being financial. The other, I think I just need a break from daily tech.  

It will be a perfect excuse to go old school on my studies, working on my PEAs and actually getting out more.  Winter I do recluse more than the other seasons, but less than summer oddly.  I just don't do the 80s well at all.  But I digress!!
