Narita, Japan. Family farm, 100 years organic, in the middle of a major international airport. Owner has been offered big money to leave; doesn't care. Heartwarming.

I am surprised that the land was not taken over by eminent domain.

The video didn't work for me though I know that is my computer, probably.

This was in Japan, not the US.

Different countries have different laws.

Before posting I ask Mr Google who said, that eminent domain exists in Japan under the Land Expropriation Law, though exception of projects like Narita Airport.

So maybe that is the Narita Airport.  Since I could not watch the video I don't know ...

This has been a big political issue in Japan for literally decades. When I was there in the 1990s it was an issue then. Some of the land owners divided their land into tiny plots and sold them to the public just to make it that much more difficult legally to take the land away. The Narita authorities would have had to sue each landowner individually, one square meter at a time, if I recall correctly.
One reason for Japan's economic success is the very strong traditional legal protections for landowners.

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. It was a tiny ad.
