Forgive me, I'm new here. I have a super steep hill that's currently covered in weeds that I would like to turn into a little food forest, but I'm having trouble knowing how to get started. I'm in zone 7a and have naturally sandy soil. Some of the weeds that have taken over are Canada Thistle, Burdock, and Mugwort. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!

I think I need to play 20 questions:
1. "super steep" - any idea what the angle is? Steep enough that working on it isn't very safe, or that disturbance could cause a landslide?
2. Which way does it face - as in south or south-east etc.
3. About what size? Length and width. This doesn't need to be precise.
4. What sort of rainfall pattern?
5. Are there any specific foods you want to have?
6. Time frame: do you need food now, or can you start by saving seeds from grocery store food, pushing them into the soil, and seeing what happens? If the soil is unstable, planting seeds rather than whole trees is likely to get you a better, deeper root pattern.
OK, only 6 questions to help us to give you ideas that might be workable!
Kasey Greenwood wrote: 1. Anywhere from 20-40 degrees depending on where I measure. Working on it is definitely not safe.
2. It's south facing
3. It's about 56' W by 32'
5. Fruit trees would be ideal but really I just want to make use of what otherwise feels like useless land
6. There's no timeline on this, just something I would like to get started on if I can.
