This is an ulcer factory topic if I ever saw one. I have no interest in genetically modified foods.
If we want to
feed the world, there are many avenues to go down before we resort to protein "hacking." Better food distribution systems, for one. We produce
enough calories in the US to make every man woman and child in the country morbidly obese. The small scale urban farming initiatives that the people of Cuba came up with under the pressures of embargo could lift the world into better quality food production and good health. The idea that we need more efficient plants strikes me as odd.
Who owns these genetically manipulated frankenfood patents once they are producing vast amounts of quality food? A benevolent corporation that wants to give the plants away to the poor for no monetary gain?
