oh, I know, that's not permie. That's why I didn't do it.
But it's a long road ahead before I am attempting that BB badge, XD. My skills are fine for sockets, not ready for trousers yet.

If memory serves,  there are plenty of mending BBs that don't require invisible mending.   It's a lost skill, so wanted several paths at that level.

For the BB this will do okay. It doesn't need to be perfect.

I think it's poly something woven fabric, very bad quality.
I tried to recreate the pattern, but it was too small for my eyes. I knew it wasn't going to be invisible, but I didn't expect it to look so bad. In top of that, I had to deal with the back side of the trousers.

Maybe it was not the best piece for trying this technique. What other mending technique would you have used instead?

Side notes.
Oh. The second day, kiddo did another hole in the other leg, outside the sticked patch, as if he was mocking at the 'protection'.

I looked for good old hard jeans, but they are misteriously missing from all the stores we frequent. All jeans I find are stuffed with elastane.

The invisible mending bbs needs to be invisible.  This wouldn't pass.

However,  there are other mending bb options.

I mean the 'darning' BB. But I understand now this was synthetic material. Then it isn't fit for a BB. Only natural materials there.

Kid can wear out the knee area of the pants very quickly. One way is to top stitch a big reinforcing patch to cover the entire knee cap. Do both knees with another black fabric of different texture to make it look like an intentional design. For example hand tack a vegan leather or quilted fabric for contrast ( shiny vs matte / patterned vs plain).

Another easier fix is to iron a layer of fusible interfacing on the inside.
