permies.com / paul wheaton podcasts - topic requests?

Paul is taking the plunge. Due to the success of The Survival Podcast interviews, he's going to make some permies.com-style podcasts.

So, what would you like to hear Paul rant about?

I wanna say that for those making requests, the reuquests coming from a permies account that has a first name, a space and a last name will have the highest priority.

Wintering over chickens, due to cold weather here in PA the chickens get cooped up more than I like. I know you have the paddock system, how is this used (or not used) in winter. Self sufficient winter chicken feed.

Alright Paul, I'll bite.

One topic/belief I've heard you repeatedly refer to is the difference in soil on the East & West side of the Cascades.  It's come up a handful of times when I've talked to you or heard you speak.  Most recently during the first Survival Podcast; you guesstimate a huegelkultur bed in Western WA might last 10-15 years, versus 20 or 30 or 50 years in Montana. 

That's all great, I don't argue the point, but I don't have a full understanding of why you believe that.  Regarding the huegel bed, I understand that the wood is more likely to rot quicker with excess moisture and lack of freezing temperatures.

Anyways, I'd love to hear the full, uncut and uncensored explanation for why you've come to this conclusion.  Convince me Paul!

Ahhhh!!! Paul, no!  Is there any way you can run PHP on your servers and do a self-hosted wordpress installation?  Otherwise you're going to lose all ownership of all the link juice running to the wordpress.com site.  Don't do it!  It's not a long-term solution for SEO.  Let me know if you need help with Wordpress, that's my specialty.

On a plus note I can hear the audio fine.  You need a slick javascript embeded to play the audio inline like Jack has, however.  http://wpaudioplayer.com/ would work fine.

Paul, Bravo!  Love the format. Talking over coffee, just great.  You and Jocelyn work well together. 

Audio was excellent.  Production values were right there too. And the voice! What can I say except you should have done this sooner.  Since this was your first, I can see these getting even better as time goes by.

Gonna be offline for a few days.  But I think this thread is a good place for future questions.

We're gonna try to record a few more en route to stuff.  Maybe even record one while we are at cobville.

I'd like to learn more about practicing permaculture in designing a plot of 1/4 acre, or less.  And, how to keep it attractive enough so your neighbors would want to ask how do this themselves, rather than tar and feather you and run you out on a rail.

My semi-rural suburban community consists of 250+ homes on small plots of land, and I believe there are others who live on similarly sized plots who would like some suggestions.

We now have podcasts for everything that has been asked here.

Kane and I are talking more about where to put the podcasts.  But I think a thread here is better.  I'm gonna start a new thread.

Paul, just listened to the first half of your first podcast.   Glad you are doing it and thanks.   I'd most like to hear 'what a guy who lives on a 1/4 acre suburban lot with a few years of gardening experience who just recently clued into organic methods should be focusing on'

Yes, we're working towards that right now.  I'm helping Paul with some site work, and email subscriptions and iTunes are in the works.

iTunes doesn't want anything with fewer than 3 episodes.

Wait ..... I have to install itunes to do this?  Ug - the last time I let itunes get on my computer, it tried to take over everything.
