I was surprised to see this thumbnail appear,
as I shared a post that I created to social media.
I am not sure that the slogan "Buy It For Life Reviews"
helps to lend credibility or authority to a Permies site.

I have no clue what the image is referring to, or it's origin.
I just KNOW that it's not something that I would click.
It sounds like some sleezy affiliate marketing dealio.
If I saw my post, I would be hesitant to click through.

I think the Permies Super Shield browser tab icon
is absolutely perfect for generic link previews.

Hmmm... it looks like it grabbed the banner ad for this forum.  It would be nicer if it could grab a different image.

I have no idea how to fix it, but I thank you for sharing this.  Have an apple!

I'll go and fiddle - I think I got around it once by choosing a better image from the page, copying the image location, posting that in facebook so it chose it as a thumbnail, *then* putting the url of the whole page.  Something like that.  I'll stick a pretty picture down here and then go and try to share it.

I just stuck a picture of pawpaw fruit on tree into the thread and chose that for the thumbnail. See if it got fixed?

It sorta works if you put this

https://permies.com/t/71408/Stop-Permies-Spam-Losing-Authority

I'm figuring out how to stop spammy images when I share a favourite thread - I'm sure you want ot look at our dinner instead...

but you have to put the bottom line in first so it picks *that* image.  It's a bit longwinded though...

It now displays a picture that is much more permies friendly
It seems like a tinker success
