I live in Northern Cal.  I'm wondering if there are any groups, community events for us or...?  Just wondering.

Have you checked the Intentional Community website?

ic.org is definitely the place to start.

FWIW there is the Oakland Morehouse in Oakland and the Lafayette Morehouse in Lafayette, CA.

Hi,

Thanks for the IC recommendation, it's something I haven't thought about.  I was wondering if there are groups out there that meet about things like homesteading, gardening, something like that.  Maybe a monthly group for organic gardeners...any ideas?

Well, there's the Permaculture Connvergence in September, in Hopland, and the Solar Living Institute itself. The Occidental arts and ecology center puts on things, and there's Canticle Farms in the Bay area. Intentional communities are always rising and falling though.

In the East Bay, there is East Bay Permaculture, they have a facebook group and meet monthly in Oakland.

The School of Adaptive Agriculture is south of Willits in Mendocino county, they offers workshops sometimes, as well as the school.

Northern California is a fairly large area, maybe narrowing it down would help.

Where in Northern CA are you? I'm up in Humboldt and there is a Permaculture Guild but they really don't seem all that interested in branching out with more than one event per year, but a group of us are working on building the permie community. We're holding a PDC this spring that will run one weekend per month from April to November, about 100 hours total. If you're in our neck of the woods, reach out to me on here!

Those are all nice recommendations, and I thank you.  I'm near Oroville.  I love the coast, and I'll probably head out there to visit the meetings.  Hopland also isn't that far, so I think I'll run out there as well.  Maybe people just don't like to get together and bbq as much as they used to :).  I still love it though.  I'm wondering if I could get motivated enough to organize a bbq for like minded people this summer?
