This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.

Mom's front patio is looking a bit bare.  How about for Mother's Day we make her a planter box from natural materials?

Here's a video of how to make a cedar planter:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a planter box from untreated, rot resistant wood
  - At least 8" by 24" by 8" high
  - Can be sized to allow for another pot to fit inside it to extend the lifespan of the wood

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The wood you're starting with
  - Midway through building the planter box
  - The finished box with measurements if it isn't clearly big enough

Planter boxes are fun! I sold a few, gave a few away to family and friends, and still have one waiting for either the right spot or the right buyer.

My finished boxes are 2 feet tall, 8 feet long, and 2, 3, and 4 feet wide.

I still have over 3,000 cedar planks so if you’re in (or passing through) southern Idaho and want a cedar garden box, give me a holler!
