Watch the movie that documents the 2022 Permaculture Technology Jamboree (PTJ), where the world's most innovative designers, builders, tinkerers, bodgers, fixers, goofballs, and water-witchers are brought together to explore and experiment with all kinds of things related to homesteading and permaculture.  The results are consistently amazing!

Now you can see the best of every project, including extensive interviews with the instructors in one feature length movie.  



- The movie is one hour and fifty two mins long

New and old natural building methods have been unlocked and refined, like mycelium insulation, and roundwood and earthen building techniques.  New time- and energy-saving inventions have been born – solar and passive solar designs to capture, store, and move heat, water, and even electricity. Wood heat technology has grown into maturity, finding new expressions and practical applications such as the Rocket Kiln, Forge, and Crucible, achieving heat-work that was previously regarded as "impossible."  

The best part? You can build this stuff at home, mostly for cheap or free!

  • a beautiful shaving horse for traditional woodworking
  • using animals to seal a pond
  • sheep shearing and wool processing
  • robust apothecary - gathering, processing, and storing plants for natural remedies
  • rocket hot tub - a super-efficient, wood-fueled hot tub
  • rocket forge - a super-efficient, wood-fueled forge for metalwork
  • harvest and process clay for pottery and glaze

    The movie is off to an excellent start. Thanks for this! I started watching and look forward to finishing it with popcorn, notepad, and the rest of my family tonight. We are about to put in a pond and hugelkultur this fall.

    I'm struggling to get this to play for more than a few minutes at a time without freezing, do you have a date for the smaller one please? But from what I've seen so far, it seems to be an overview of what was done at the jamboree rather than watching it actually happen. I thought it would be more instructional than reflective?

    Hi Rachael!

    You can adjust the quality of the stream using the gear button at the right bottom and selecting a lower resolution, 360p is great for slow connections (attaching image)

    The downloads are in the process of being distributed.

    This was the first ptj recorded and the amount of footage was good to make the movie, for the sequel the Wheaton Labs community, instructors and attendees all chipped in and we have a massive amount of footage to compensate this showcasing every little detail, you can find more here.

    I was wondering if there is going to be any information on creating ash cement given out. I was really looking forward to that. If not, is there a place that you could recommend for me to learn about it? Thank you very much. Jeff

    Hi Jeffrey!

    The ash cement experiments were made during the permaculture technology jamboree 2023, Low Tech Laboratory 1 captures the 2022 event. We are running a kickstarter atm for the sequel which will include a section on ash cement and a detailed view of this project in the full event.

    I knew that. Don't know why I got the movies confused. Old age has snuck up on me is my only excuse. I joined in to support the kickstarter on the 2nd day. Thank you for the fast reply and I will now go bury my head in the sand. Jeff

    I don't see how to delete a comment, but I found out where the streaming was, so my previous comment is irrelevant :)
    (for those having a hard time like I did, just click on what looks like a thumbnail at the bottom of the initial post, this will do)
