Came back from Spring break on Sunday, and I have been hiking every single day this week so far! It's awesome in Missoula with things getting warmer! I've been blazing the trails around Mount Sentinel!
is that evidence of the glacial lake outburst on the side of the hill?
the vertical lines would be from when they made the rail line but the horizontal ones could be from the lake outburst?
I have been hiking a lot myself lately. One day I ended up hiking 4-1/2 miles in 5 hours.
I had an idea that our farm had some mineralization, but did not realize just how much until this winter. Its has taken 4 years of research to get to this point, but in checking for mineralization, I have trekked miles and miles, amny of them on snowshoes.
I have also been tracked myself too, one day going to an outcrop to sample it, then on the way back stumbling upon the biggest kitty track I have ever seen. It had a paw print of over 3 inches which around here is one big bobcat. That was the second one of the week, and in looking at my tracks an hour before, this kitty was VERY close by, it was a very fresh track. I have never carried a weapon while hiking out in the woods, and but I am thinking about starting. A week after I saw that kitty track, a woman in CT was mauled by a bobcat.
It makes you think; in a track of land 10,000 acres in size, no one around, nothing but me and the BIG kitty. Again, the chances of something happening are small, but with the crazies in the world, Maine's right for anyone to carry a concealed weapon without any paperwork, Katie and I think for both 4 legged and 2 legged creatures, now might be about time to start carrying.
