cooked up a backstrap and tenderloin with some stock and tomatoes seasoned with garam masala the other day. i am sort of regretting not using it on the grill instead. it was too tender to be used like stew meat for sure. i am still eating on the leftovers. mmmmmmm. why hasn't chevon caught on!!! it is so silly when I tell people about goat meat (or milk for that matter)and they grimace and make ew gross sounds. seriously, why is eating a cow or pig ok but a goat is gross!!!cows and pigs are way more disgusting animals than goats!
comparison -
meat protein g. fat g. iron g.
goat 23 2.58 3.2
beef 23 16 2.0
chicken 21 3.5 1.5
pork 21 24 2.7
myself being a "woman of childbearing age" especially pays attention to the iron.
goat meat also has approx 20% less saturated fat than even chicken. typical beef has 6 times the amount of saturated fat in comparison to chevon and pork has about 8 times!
