The PEP event is over and our last guest Baylee left around 3 this afternoon. It was great being surrounded by an awesome group of people. Those 2 weeks flew by but we got a lot done and had fun along the way.
Monday back to bootcamp. We got a new boot and Jeremy is joining us for the week as well. Feels great to have more people around. Feels like we can get so much more done with 2 extra hands. I'm sure we'll be cruising through projects once the bootcamp is full.

Day 99 Another beautiful productive day. Warm sunshine with an occasional cloud floating in front of it followed by a breeze to cool you down, perfect temperature.
Paul and Jocelyn are starting their project time in the morning now that the summer heat is creeping up on us. One of their main projects is working on breaking up rocks to lower the west side of the garage for better drainage. We helped out with that this morning one person breaking up rocks with a jack hammer and the rest moving rocks for trails, retaining walls and the like.
We fed the willows the rest of their candy and cleaned the bins that contained it.
Worked on the berm shed, lining up the fascia. Playing with round wood trying to make things level. We ended up tying in the 2x10's in the corner, which left us with a few roof sticks showing above the board. To keep everything level and still be able to hold dirt we chiseled the raised boards to hold materials for the green roof.
Jeremy an I staged junkpoles from a rock jack fail then chopped wood while Fred and Jaqi installed Boards to cover the fascia and tarp on the berm shed.
We joined in later to help fill in light gaps from those boards with pine needles and cover with sand.
We ended the day repairing junkpole fence.

Day 100 Today was blessed with rain so we got a chance to work on the rainy day list.
The morning lightened up so we repaired the section of junkpole we started on yesterday.
Next we moved insulation that was on the couch balcony. Some was used for under the red cabin which conveniently is the same width. Jeremy and Jaqi installed that while I cleaned up the couch balcony and repaired a bow saw. All it needed was the right size nut and bolt to fit through the tensioner and the blade.
After lunch we planted on a berm inside Aracas. I planted Lupines, Jaqi planted Squash and Jeremy Daikon Radish.
The rain picked up in time for us to work in the shop. Jaqi sharpened a bow saw, Jeremy sharpened various tools and I repaired a shovel and Snow chains for Judy.
It was the first time I installed a hot rivet. Also heated and bent some metal for the chains too.

Problem solving for securing a shovel head on a drill press
Day 101 Yesterday we worked on Fred's plot for most of the day hauling brush for the berm fence. We have the second layer of brush covered and ready for more dirt. Before Rex is up and running again I think we will lay a mess of brush outside the perimeter to deter deer, whenever we work on Fred's plot again. With that and the fence up on the berm it should take quite a bit off of the wildlife pressure to grow food. For the last couple hours Jaqi and I cleaned up a couple areas down at base camp and hauled those to the boneyard with Doug.

Load looks lighter than usual to compensate for wet wood
Day 102 Monday at bootcamp and the PDC starts next week! I'm excited for the opportunity to be a part of this upcoming event and meet all the new faces that will be taking the course as well.
We cleaned and organized for the event. Moving equipment attachments and wood around with the tractor, making more room for parking down in Aracas.
Next we chopped wood from the PEP event to clear the pathway to the FPH.
After iunch Fred wanted to get us out of the heat so we cleaned up a leafcutter bee box for their new season to pollinate. We removed the cocoons from the tubes and checked for parasites. Once they were cleared, we cleaned the frames with a wire brush and put the box back together. The cocoons were put in a mesh bag above the tubes for the larvae to hatch and repeat their cycle.
Once that was done we got back to cuttin and stackin wood.
