Kind of a silly question about "new post/new topic"

I wanted to post a new topic with a question about sourdough, and I was in the general area, not in a specific forum. I couldn't find a button for "new topic". Is that new or has it been around forever, and I just didn't realize how things work? I thought, for some reason, that I can be anywhere on the site and post a new topic, and just choose where to post it later in the post making page.

Not a big deal obviously, just curious.

Hi Liv,

I think the trick is to go to a thread in the forum you want to post in, and then jump down to the bottom to find the “new topic” button. That should put your new post in the forum you want it.

At least, that’s how I do it!  Probably easier ways I don’t know about.

Can you share a link to the page where you could not find "new topic"?

Not sure this will work, here’s what I have:

Oh!  right!

I thought that page was retired years ago - for lots of reasons.

Maybe we need to finally disable it - since it is causing problems.

I’m sorry, I did not see the above posts earlier.

I guess I don’t understand what is happening, and right now I don’t have time to figure it out on my own.

If I click on the button that says “recent” and I get all the newest comments in their chronological order, how can that page be “retired”...

Stupid question, I know, and I don’t expect anyone to answer, only if they have lots of time on their hands. Which they might...
