The only one that comes to mind is a young chaga mushroom. I’m pretty sure I’m wrong too. Try to identify the tree. That always goes a long way towards identification.

The innards is the right color for chaga but that doesn't look like chaga to me.  It's always on white birch for me and that doesn't look birchy to me.  So I'm not sure what it is but I don't think it's chaga...
