I just had surgery today: all four wisdom teeth were removed, and had bone grafts in a couple spots.
Doc gave me a medicated rinse to use after eating/drinking to prevent infection, plus antibiotics.

Sent home pain meds but I’m really not wanting to use an opiate for my pain management.

What are your go-to herbal solutions for pain and wound healing?

I’m a fan of cinnamon, clove, and ginger tea myself but I’d love to hear what works for y’all!

Thanks, I found a couple of things there that may work. Unfortunately most of the rest don’t really apply...I can’t gargle right now because it would wash out the blood clots that are trying to form to protect exposed nerves.

I’ve essentially got four large open wounds in my mouth so a tea or tisane is really the only safe option right now.

I saw clove and plantain both mentioned in the other thread. I’m wondering what other herbs may be applicable.

Looking for things that are
anti microbial/antibacterial
Anti fungal
Immune support
Anti-inflammatory
Improves clotting

Or any combination of the above!

Not herbal, but at least it's not opioids. Last year when I had a tooth extracted that involved some rot down into the bone, ibuprofen turned out to be enough, and I only needed it for about two days. When I had all four wisdom teeth extracted some 30 years ago, I think it was the same. It turned out to heal  much faster than I had feared.

Ibuprofen has been known to slow clotting time.

Yeah, my doctors sent me home with some 800mg ibuprofen. Instructions to pack gauze around the wounds to help start the clotting. I feel like I’m playing that game where you see how many marshmallows you can stuff in your mouth 😂

Clove oil is easy to find and works really great.

When I had a tooth pulled, my dentist recommended to use a salt solution to wash my mouth to help with the healing process. I don't remember the ration though it was probably 1 or 2 teaspoons of salt to a cup of warm water.

Oil of Oregano also.  Needs to be diluted though, or it burns.

Hi Ray! Spilanthes is the 'toothache herb', I'm growing some now.

You can chew on the little ball shaped flower, it zings sim to Echinacea, and numbs the mouth.

You can prob find a tincture. I would make a tea/mouth swish with it along with clove buds, maybe yarrow.

I had a crown fall off,  its a little exposed and will start to get inflamed and hurt. Using this and Thyme herb tea (to drink, and also make a mouth swish

with salt) took care of it right away.
