I learned a different version of this song (though this is the closest version I can find that isn’t the version I learned from) but I love this melody and lately have been singing it this way.

Wow, that's funny M Ljin!  I was just listening to a version of that song today.  The version you shared in much more melodic and ephemeral.  So here's the upbeat one:  (I don't know how to embed it.)

I enjoyed the Stan Rogers version! I should listen to more of his music.

Here is the version I learned initially, by Margaret MacArthur. This melody seems quite different compared with the others.
