We're excited to try out a new "Theme of the Week" weekly event.

Most of you are probably familiar with the book reviews we do here on permies. I love seeing all of the conversations that happen around a given subject, and it's really valuable to see a lot of different posts on a specific theme during the week. If it's something that's new to me, I feel like I get a good foundation for starting to understand it, and then want to learn more about it. If it's something I'm already interested in, it's really helpful and fun to hear from other fellow permies about their ideas and experiences.

During the week, regular conversations will continue as normal of course, it would just be a chance for more people to hear from others on the specific theme and generate more conversations on it. The discussions will usually be in a related forum, similar to the giveaways, and look very similar to book giveaways, just without a giveaway or an author to answer questions, just awesome permies talking about awesome things together.

The themes could be on anything, like food preservation, squash, leathercraft, chickens, building, sewing, fermentation, cherries, cattle, metalworking, and so much more!

Square Foot Garden has a transplant/plant seed schedule for planting all annuals gardens. Perennial gardens can be fillers, as well as green houses.

I'm confused-  where are we going to be discussing the theme of the week?

Since this topic is rather broad, it can be discussed in any applicable forum. In the future we will most likely have the conversations take place within one specific forum.

I'd like to known more about 1) gourd growing for gourd art and how to do different types of art, and 2) growing successful garden tunnels that last all year and forever.  Lastly, setting up a walipini.
