Hi, just signed up, and typed in a username, and supplied my real name as well. I assumed my 'username' would be the one visible on the forum, but I see my real name is. Any way I can post under my username, not my real name?

TIA

You can ask for your real name to be changed to a different but real-sounding name. I did, so I know it is possible! Ask a moderator to help.

I also changed mine...I am finally using my middle name after all these years and an ancestors last.
I went to my profile and typed in the names I wanted and when asked said why and my name was changed that day....no problem.

We try to make it as clear as possible that there is a difference between the name you use to login to the site and the publicly displayed name. See the attachment for how it appears on the registration page.

If you can think of a way that we can make this any clearer, we would really love to hear it.

I thought that it was perfectly clear...I just realized after a few posts I wasn't comfortable using my real name.

Yeah, I should have read it a bit more closely, I've joined a few forums over the years, never come across this before, I just got kinda blase with thinking every forum was kinda the same!

Anyway thanks, I'll ask a mod for help.

I think it is great to use one's real first name!

Imagine that you meet in reality? So much easier then!
Only the second name protects your privacy.

I've read that most tough people, including gun carrying gang bangers, are scared to death of animals like goats. Probably because people fear what they do not understand, and most people don't know that goats basically won't hurt you. So get lots of goats, and a few mean roosters, use real name at will and laugh your ass off at any internet predator who shows up to try and harm you. If a person really doesn't want people finding them on the internet just delete your facebook, it's the real place to fear.

Tell me how it all turns out. Here is a tiny ad:
