James Webb Telescope

The James Webb Telescope has been deployed!

My personal hope is that it will have the same kind of impact that things like the pale blue dot similar photos have had on our collective consciousness. Also see the overview effect.

We may soon see how rare Earth like planets really are and how precious ours is.

I can hardly wait for the first images to come back!

It’s mission is interesting.  It only looks at the deep infrared spectrum, specifically to look at extremely red-shifted galaxies that are very far away and receding from us at very high speeds.  Essentially it is something like a time machine, looking back at a very young universe.

And again, I can hardly wait to see those images as they start to appear!
