I am compiling a list of radio stations that have local shows - community chat, interview type shows. What stations do y'all know of?

It is quite a ways from me though when I go to the mailbox I listen to KIKK broadcasting from his kitchen table and often giving suggestions for lunch like chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy.

in the asheville nc area there’s wpvm and asheville fm (wsfm). nearby in marshall, the community radio station wart has some discussion shows.

KAXE used to be my favorite. It is in NE MN. I still listen to it on my computer

If it's not already on your list, WMMT in Whitesburg, KY has long been a vibrant and engaged community/regional radio station. Part of the Appalshop media collective.

WMMT.org

Though the pandemic has hit Appalachia hard, and has lately impaired volunteer programmer participation.

I hosted The Morel Majority program there for several years -though Whitesburg is quite a drive for me. It's a special place.

What is the aim of your list?

Seems like iHeart owns a lot of the local stations these days, but I like listening to Ross Kaminsky in Denver, CO.
