I was inspired by Nikki's PEX to make this post. Here is Nikki's PEX: https://permies.com/wiki/170462/skills-inherit-property/Nikki-PEX

I only have 1/5th of an acre in the suburbs, but there are quite a few skills that I have or would like to see in others if I were an Otis. I'm also in Texas and my context means my skill set is slightly different from Paul's. The purpose of this thread is to track projects that could qualify as a BB but aren't listed. I may try to post them in Oddball eventually, but I wanted the freedom to show off according to my own standards.

Here is my list of badges/BBs. Some of these I've done and will post about soon and some of these I want to learn. The list will grow as I think of more things and do more projects:

Composting:
-Fill and process a bokashi bin
-Build a 3x3x3 yard trimmings compost pile
-Make an in-ground food scrap digester
-Make a compost sifter
-Sift 2 cubic ft. of high-quality compost

Gardening:
-Clone 3 plant varieties from softwood cuttings
-Clone 3 plant varieties from hardwood cuttings

Food Prep and Preservation:
-Make and can red sauce base
-Dehydrate 5 veggie varieties
-Make popcorn on the stovetop
-Make a dark roux
-Make mirepoix or trinity
-Deep fry 5 different veggies or meats
-Make pasta from scratch
-Barbeque a proper, Texas-style brisket

Camping:
-Pitch a tent and sleep in it for a night
-Cook a meal on a campfire
-Identify 10 different species on the trail
-Leave a nature area better than you found it (clean up a public area and collect 3 large bags of trash)

Animal Care:
-Brush, saddle, and bridle a horse

BB stands for badge bits. Otis is the name Paul chose for people who want to give their land to worthy recipients.

Nice list Elizabeth. I see several that would be a good fit in the oddball categories. A few others that might.

Awesome, Elizabeth! I see a few that I want to add to my own list. Looking forward to reading about your progress.

Tongue wrestling. It's not what you think. And here, take this tiny ad. You'll need it.
