I haven't a clue what to write about this for laughing so hard.

Apparently "duckanas" are a thing now.

where does this ducknana  come from?  Why is it even a thing?  Why do I find it impossibly funny?

The Ducknanigans continue - https://www.reddit.com/r/VictoriaBC/comments/w3v4ns/pure_joy/

I wish I could embed the video for you here - it's fantastic!

Apparently, the guy was going to wait until her birthday to present her with the duckana but it made the local news and she saw his photos of him buying it so...

...

In other news, the Duckanas in the next town over are being met with scorn.  I suspect there will be a mass migration of duckanas seeking sanctuary on our island.

This will go perfectly with my garden gnomes, pink flamingos, and political signage in my yard!

And the local news is doing what it does best - rehashing reddit and other social media to make it look like news: https://www.cheknews.ca/what-the-duck-these-bizarre-statues-have-victoria-reddit-users-going-bananas-1063992/

The really funny thing is, I have family visiting from out of town and the instant they saw a duckana they bought one for their garden.  This was a day before Reddit discovered them.

I think ducknana is awesome, and hilarious, and just what we all need, about now. I told John I want to get the small ones for all 5 of our kids, for Christmas - he said not to forget one for us, lol!

Someone was having too much fun in photoshop combining another popular local topic with the current Duckana trend. https://imgur.com/a/1p98nsU

Thanks for sharing! The duckana has not caught on on Pinterest.

I found two people using duckana in their profile name though to find some images I had to search duck banana:

This almost looks like a duck:

Um, I expected this to be finished by now, but apparently Ducknanamania is just getting started https://www.reddit.com/r/VictoriaBC/comments/w5mlps/ducknana_meetandgreet_gatheringthis_sunday_july/

(there is also a debate going on if it's duckana or ducknana or bananaduck for some reason)

What I don't get is why this silly idea is still going strong.

People are posting hate about the ducknanas which just fuels the pro-ducknana people to post more jokes about it.  It's like a self-feeding monster.

I do understand. My (paternal)grandma used to tell me stories of the super silly antics and pleasures folks sought out, during WW2. My grandpa was stationed in the Philippines, at the time, and she and all her friends were scared, lonely for their husband's, sons, grandsons.... all while being single, fulltime working moms on rations. Their stresses were so high, that they clung to any silliness that tickled them, in their efforts to cling to sanity. The situations are vastly different - but the world wide stress levels are frighteningly similar. People are grasping at silly-straws, again.

This time it's about the ducknana meet and greet event in the local park this morning.

The shop that sells them is limiting one duckana per order due to the high demand.

This just doesn't stop being funny.
