I thought some might be interested to see this simple alternative I've been using for years to make my T.P. last longer.  I cut up old t shirts, flannel sheets, etc. and keep them in the bathroom.  I use them only for wiping pee or blowing my nose.  I toss them in with the laundry and reuse them!  it's much cleaner than T.P.

Wayback when I lived in Montana.Mullen was the toilet paper of choice. It's a renewable resource and compostable. Not so much in the winter though. But spring, summer and fall for sure.I like your idea though. Why do we have to rely on the supply chain to wipe our buns.

What is Mullen please?
I guess we use toilet paper because it is easier and eliminates a gross task of washing cloths.

Mullein is Verbascum thapsus.

The t-shirt scraps is a great idea! We also primarily use a Toto toilet, so fecal cleansing is handled by the bidet function. We've been using a small amount of traditional toilet paper for 'front end' daubing, etc. but your solution is greener and not gross enough to be problematic.

I set a log post in the ground, and wrapped it in sandpaper.. haha! Just kidding. Use water and thoroughly clean your backside.
