In high school chemistry some kids (errrmmm) got in a lot of trouble for making nitro -triiodide. Stable when wet but when dry the slightest impact makes it go boom.

Nitrogen triiodide is an extremely sensitive contact explosive: small quantities explode with a loud, sharp snap when touched even lightly, releasing a purple cloud of iodine vapor;

Maybe on a list of controlled substances.

thats rediculous, simply buying iodine does not hurt anyone who doesnt choose to be hurt by it regardless fo what you make with it, until someones been hurt its simply criminal for the govt to get involved in such a thing

but before this gets too political... did you manage to get any iodine any other ways?

It could be used to make meth, therefore it is illegal to possess.

Hmm. Those quarters in my pocket could be used to phone a bookie and bet on the Superbowl.

Am I risking jail time by carrying change around in my pocket?
Or even my cell phone. I could use that instead. Maybe to call my meth dealer?

If you make enough laws, you can make everybody a criminal.

I am not even going to mention the crazy need to control iodine purchase.
But why limit it only to people with a car/vechine. Why not just a ID or SS#.
What if we made a personal choice to only ride a bicycle/moped or rent.

How long until we can not buy something unless we own a 1million dollar house
