Excellent build and documentation newly graduated Rocket Scientist!
This material list and your build thread are invaluable for folks considering their first build!
As Master Builder Peter always says, "Follow a proven plan and get proven results"

Looking forward to your second, third, and fourth build!
Your diploma, lab coat, and pocket protector will be arriving in the mail as soon as we have such things!
Until then you may proudly use the title of Journeyman Rocket Scientist and wear your Dragon Technology staff shirt!

It is truly an honor to wear my Dragon Technology staff shirt as I lounge and enjoy the warmth of the newly fledged dragon. I'm anxiously awaiting the lab coat and pocket protector addition to the DT swag.

Hey Glenn, what did you use to "seal" the top of the firebrick ceiling?
Or another way of phrasing the question: what is between your firebricks and clay bricks in the ceiling?
I see where you had spread something on top of your firebricks in the development thread.

Hi Matt... it is Superwool blanket. I was pretty deliberate to cut both the refractory brick and clay brick so they fit snug with no gaps since there is no mortar used for the roof. The Superwool does a really good job at sealing between the two layers. For the first few months of running the furnace I kept a CO detector sitting on the top just to see if there as any leakage and never had the detector trigger.

Not looking good. I think this might be the end. Wait! Is that a tiny ad?
