I unwrapped the last bottle of scotch that I bought, on the morning of my drive to rehab.  That was 47 years ago, Glenfiddich, single malt almost as dark in color as Coke-Cola, the level is down to the lowest part of the neck.  I've resealed the bottle several times with new wax over the years, but the level keeps dropping, I guess it is true, that the fairies stop by for a wee sip from time to time.

So, here's the deal: if I'm granted the gift of knowing that my last days are near, I will send out an invitation to any and all single malt lovers to join me in my last shot!!!

My bottle is only 59 years old, I'm hoping I get to taste at least a 60 year old Glenfiddich.

Peace

Hi Dean;
I have wondered about the things I might do (again) if I knew the end was imminent.
I'm wondering about evaporation rather than fairies, what with your wax seals repeatedly going bad...
Unfortunately, whiskey does not age after being bottled... so sad...

Certainly true, fairies, get their share from the wood cask (barrels) , different climates equal different amounts disappearing. Here the options are huge, as far as the actual barrel, type of char, previous use if any and the list goes on.

 But once in a bottle just as Tom states, it would be case of evaporation and the taste, should be nearly identical to the day it was bottled.  Now or many years from now.  But still a good keep.
