I have this week off from work. It is the first full week I've had off in over 15 years. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited, and I'm already two days down.
Things I have accomplished this week so far:
1. Made a pan of peanut butter chocolate chip bars.
2. Weeded the garden and picked rhubarb and strawberries in the garden.
3. Made a pan of rhubarb crisp.
4. Got a hair cut at a salon. (That was big. Big price tag, at least... ha ha)
5. Worked on my deer fence.
6. Took my son to a wildlife park, where we identified plants in the woods.
7. Took my son kayaking.  Two fishing spiders (see picture) climbed into my kayak this afternoon, at different times. I do not know what they hell they saw that made climbing into my boat seem like a good idea. One climbed over me and back onto the water. (Yes, they walk on water.) The other did not make it.
8. Made beef stroganoff for supper this evening.

So I have three days left to pretend I am a homemaker.  I may stay home and plan my future as a homesteader. I might make a batch of soap. I may go see the folks who are a few hours away.  If it is up to my folks, I will spend the next three days doing their taxes. (I've had a number of people "helping" me plan my first week off in 15 years... lol.) Without any help in planning, I've always got a to-do list a mile long.

I don't know... Maybe you all get these full weeks off all the time, and this is not a big deal to you. But if you are like me, and time off is a rarity, tell me what your week's worth of adventures would be.

Sometimes it is nice to just do the things you want, the things that you need to do will still be there!

Enjoy!

Peace

Ok, due to the high regard and respect I have for you, I will keep your kind gift for 29 days and then pass it along to another.

Peace

Oh, a week off! I dream.....

Mostly if I have a week off I travel to visit my family. My mum is now 82 but lives 550 miles away so time spent with her is precious and rare.

I may or may not be hand-feeding a masked adolescent woodland creature in my backyard this week. Tee hee hee, (If you are a hater of this - please don't judge. I have a soft spot for younglings, and I can't help it.)

That drive is about 8 1/2 hours. That is not too bad. My question is always: Is my vehicle good enough to get me that far and back?  And if not, it is time to take it in for repair.

I think it would take me (from experience of the roads) about 13 or 14 hours. I choose to go by public transport if by myself, as that is longer than I can trust myself to drive safely; my limit is about 5 hours. I can catch the school bus in the morning here and be with my mum the following morning, no driving required :). If my husband is going too, then driving is more practical - but that event is even more rare! My husband also loves to look after our vehicles so usually there is one that is good to go the distance!

While I have been back to work quite a while now, that one week off was pretty nice. I wanted to share with you a nice little surprise that happened since I was hand-feeding my little raccoon friend. Apparently I earned her trust. This week she brought me her babies!
