Anyone knows what this is?

The tall lever can be pushed-pulled, and it seems it moves something that looks like a piston.

There seem to be an water inlet and outlet.

Possibly a hand pump for moving water?

I don’t think it’s a ram pump, those have a different shape and the bell is elongated and taller.

I have it on good authority that is a prototype for the "Pit of Despair" contraption from the Princess Bride sequel.

That doesn't look like any hand pump I am familiar with.  My first thought was that it is a bladder pump.

It might help if you can find the manufactures name.

Here are two similar that I found:

This one says it is a hand pump from the 1900s:

This one says it is a ram pump:

Looks like it's next to a firefighting pump similar to and Indian pump. Might be for fighting fires but it is definitely a pump.
