I personally love oil paintings that have texture to them. The ones where you look closely and see the globs of paint that just enhance whatever the painting is. I wonder if other people appreciate art as well and have it in their home.

Now is my big ask. Please consider sharing pictures of the art you have at home!

Cross posted from The (Un)Official Permies Dog Picture Thread

Oil painting of plott hound holding egg in its mouth with several chickens and eggs around.

This is a painting commissioned by my mother-in-law for my wife's bridal shower of our 7 year old Plott Hound and our chickens.

It hangs above our dressers in our bedroom and I smile ever time I take it in.

We do. We have several pieces that we picked up, in our travels, as well as a few that have been gifted to us, by the artists. Unfortunately, only about half are currently framed and hanging, though I'm working on it.

I am glad to see that, so far at least, nobody has said they don't have art!

My day job for 30ish years was custom framing and I had my own shop for the last decade of that. We sold antiques and vintage as well as custom work and my own creations. Auctions, thrifting, yard sales, wholesale buys, direct from artists and making my own stuff means we have hundreds of pieces of art. ( I'm including  the unframed to get that high) I love art and believe everyone can get a bit more joy out of life with some art around.
It doesn't have to be expensive either. Got a quilt you like but don't use? Just sew a tube of fabric on one side or some tabs and hang it up! Put it on an outside wall and you've even got a bit of extra insulation. Thrift store frames may have some chips or ugly finishes but a bit of semi gloss black paint and they look way better. Print off your fave pictures and put them up. Much better than them just being on your phone or computer. If you love it, it deserves to be on your wall, even if it's just a poster you found at the dump.

I find a bare wall looks unfinished to me and I have been working through decorating our new house. Considering how much we have and like, I've been doing quite a lot of gallery walls.
This is one I did at our old place.
