As we approach the end of the year and a time filled with many holidays, I am staving off the Midwest winter chill by firing up the gas oven to bake sweet things for friends and family.

So far for me it’s has been Hutzelbrot (German fruit bread), molasses crinkle cookies, and butter cookies with currant jelly.

What are you all baking this year?

Beautiful baking MK!
Out here, I have loads of apples so the neighbors get fresh apple cakes. The recipe calls for 1 qt of chopped apples for a 2 qt ring pan so the recipe is ideal for making a dent in the apple stash. The house is warm and fragrant with cinnamon on this cold day.
I'd love your recipe for Hutzelbrot if you're willing.
Happy holiday baking!

Amy, the recipe I use is from Peter Lohrer at https://peters-backblog.de/2021/11/28/huzelbrot-das-schwaebische-original/.

I’m working on a translation/adaptation.
Staff note (Amy Gardener) :

Upon entering the Peter Lohrer link above, I noticed after opening the link that there is a translation symbol on the right side of the search bar. I could read the recipe in English using this translation. Of course I look forward to your translation/adaptation if you have suggestions MK!

I'm going with the Italian  "panforte"  chocolate based with oodles of finely cut dried fruit and nuts.

I agree. Here's the link: http://stoves2.com
