All interested in sharing lodging, please read what has already been posted on the Permaculture Voices main topic thread.

I wonder what kind a time frame until in town Temecula hotel rates start going up?

Or until the lovely Mc Castle get's reserved by non-PV people. (http://www.vrbo.com/469467 )

The castle is awfully impressive, but with 5 bedrooms, one of which has 2 twin beds, it sleeps 6 people unless people share beds. Obviously coupled individuals tend to share a bed (Jocelyn's coming--right?) but how many couples do we have? Just sayin' the price per person goes up if we put one person in a queen bed. Of course, there are probably couches that could be used, and there's certainly room for camping on the grounds.

How far from Pechanga is the castle? (I have to drive home now so I can't do the google maps work right now)

I am guessing that it is about a 10 to 15 minute drive max. Shouldn't be much traffic. More traffic lights than actual traffic.

Well, this one ( http://www.vrbo.com/3484720ha# ) is just 3 miles from the Pechanga Casino, so that's really close. As in, I-forgot-something-but-I-can-run-back-and-fetch-it-no-problem close. However, the castle/palazzo is just 5 miles further away - 8 miles.

The house is not as fabulous as the castle, but it has a lot of room for fun, with the great patio around the swimming pool (swimming pool and spa!). It theoretically sleeps 8, but really 4 unless you have couples. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and renting it from 3/12 to 3/17 will cost $1775. That would be about $440 per room (although it would make sense to charge a little more for the master bedroom).

I'm confused as to how the palazzo sleeps 14. It has bed space for 10, if there are 2 in the King bed, 2 in each of 3 queen beds and one in each of 2 twin beds. There must be some other sleep-able furniture items. . . .

I will ask my brother, but I think there were some pull out couches.

I look at it too like, if someone wants to pay close to nothing and sleep on the floor, go for it.

The rental charge for these places often rises with increasing numbers of people, and it's not unusual for the owners to be against floor sleeping. It depends on how closely the place is being observed, and the attitudes of the owner. My biggest beef with the gorgeous palazzo is the lack of hot water in which to lounge outside. . .

Julia has put together an awesome permies house for 20 folks to stay at--thank you, Julia!! Paul and Jocelyn are staying at this house an extra 5 days - see the thread about adding extra days if you'll be in the area and want to join us.

I'm flying in/out LAX. Looks like arriving at noon Wednesday and departing at 1100 Monday.
Will probably rent a car, so can give rides if your flights are near mine in time and space.
Best,
John

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to find someone to share lodging with (or more than one)
I don't mind the cheap room like Motel 6. I'm female but willing to share with male or female-non snorer would be nice.
John Ackley-perhaps we can carpool from the airport to Temecula? If you still have space.
Thanks

Hi there, Julia (who booked and filled up the "permies house") here. You might want to check out this thread:
http://www.permies.com/t/30603/southwest-usa/Permaculture-Voices-Camping-Resource-Planning

There are a couple of people on there looking to get a house together and a bunch planning on camping.
