I bought the RMH DVDs and Ben Falk's book via your link. Hopefully you got credit. I'm curious. Do you get a percentage of the price of purchase or just a flat fee? I tend to spend a lot of money on Amazon and will try to use your link when I do. Thanks!

Rich;)

Amazon pays a percentage. Anywhere from 6% to 8%. But they pay that on EVERYTHING you buy from the link. So if you go buy 40 items in one go from the link for one item, I get a kickback on the whole purchase.

I get a report from amazon that shows what all people bought from my links, and there is some seriously odd stuff that I never knew existed. I cannot see who bought it - only that it was purchased.

What if I followed a link for the Permaculture Playing Cards and then deleted them from my cart? Would you still get credit for whatever else I purchased? I'm also curious what sort of odd things you saw. Can't help it. I'm a voyeur.

Once in a while, Kevin at http://www.cryptogon.com/ will post his Amazon affiliate transactions, and make some commentary. Once in a while he will say something like; "Hey you, whoever you are. You just bought a thing. A very specific thing. What do you know that I don't? You will know who you are."

I always wondered what the thing was that the person bought.

If you follow the link for the cards and then buy a laptop (but don't even put the cards in your cart) then I will get something like $20. And I will see the laptop in my report.

As for odd things: I remember I once saw that somebody this book

For the last 7 days: I get a dime when somebody watches a movie online. There were about 7. clothes; personal care stuff; lots of books; electronics; grocery; lots of DE; kitchen stuff; shoes; tools .... nothing that seemed too interesting (I guess I thought if I looked there would be something fun right now).

I was just searching for the best way to buy the playing cards that would benefit permies and I found this thread.

So I’m bumping up just in case others are wondering the same thing.

I saw the cards at the PDC I recently took. Can’t remember the fellows name but he was showing them to everyone and he convinced me that they were a good idea for helping to spread the permie word to my non-permie friends.
Sorry dude, that I am so terrible about remembering names, but I’m going to order those cards now – thanks for sharing them with everyone…

So let me get this correct . If I want to feed the empire and pie collection I click on a link from Permies don't buy what the link is for but buy something else like for instance a computer .
And Paul gets pie tokens ? Even if I buy something on amazon France

I don't have any affiliate stuff for amazon.fr. I do have affiliate stuff for amazon.com and amazon.uk.

Suppose you go to this page and buy the tea strainer through my link. I will get about 7% of $12. About 84 cents. And then you buy a few other things and end up spending $100 worth of stuff from amazon. Then I get $7.00!

Suppose you follow the exact same link and buy $100 of stuff, but you never buy the strainer. Then I still get $7.00.

Suppose you follow the exact same link and at some point switch over to amazon.fr and then buy $100 worth of stuff. I get $0.00.

Here are two important things I wish to point out:

Suppose you have a web site and you make a link to my cards at amazon and you are set up with the amazon affiliate stuff. And over a year a hundred people buy two decks each. That's about $280 you get.

Now suppose over a year, 40 people buy the 4-DVD set at amazon. That's another $280.

And if you set up an affiliate program at scubbly and 40 people buy my regular podcats (which have a 40% affiliate kickback instead of 7%), that's $576.

Or, somebody could post a link to a different website, or to a mailing list ...

I just made two purchases for kindle books through your coffee strainer link. I wish there was a way for me to know that you are getting your $ without me having to post on the forum. Like an auto report or something from amazon telling me that I just supported "X" affiliate.

In theory it will be in the report tomorrow.

I can tell you that yesterday I earned 8 cents when somebody bought a kindle book.

I thought I read on here that you get 7% for Amazon so you should be seeing around $2 from my purchase. Plus at the beginning of next month I will send you $ to your paypal account for the podcast work you do. Granted its not a lot but pennies make dollars and every bit helps build the empire

Sometime in the next couple of weeks I hope to carve out the time to make all of the podcasts available for cheap(er).

In addition to this affiliate thing, there is this program

http://smile.amazon.com/

0.5% of your amazon purchases can go to a chosen charity. It's not much.

IF 1000 permies set this up and spent $100 a year, that would be $500/year that could go to some chosen charity.

Still not that much.

7% does look much better. But then you can't sign up for a permanent 7% thing.

I have noticed that if I follow a permies link, I get the 'ref 12-20' tag in the URL.
However, once I am there, if I use the Amazon search box for a different item, the 'ref' changes.
For example, I just followed that F* book link, then searched for elect. fence solar panels, and the ref changed to "http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-..."

It 'lost' your affiliate number. Does that mean that you would no longer get a %age?

I have no idea. But I do know that half the stuff I get a kickback on is stuff I don't have a link for.

Do you want ants? Because that's how you get ants. And a tiny ads:
