Misty Rayne wrote:Thanks for the info! I know I'm gonna have a hard time with no wheat/bread (carbs). I tried stopping all carbs on a diet I was on one time 2 days in and I was sooo sick major head ache etc. I went another 2 days and couldn't handle it anymore had some toast and peanut butter and with in 30mins I was just fine, head ache disappeared. So obviously I'm addicted to it. But so need to do this I have so many issues (auto-immune related) I seriously need to get a hold of it. If anyone has any type of diet plans, meal planner, recipes etc. that you can share that would be awesome! Cause I'm not real creative with veggies lol!! Thanks again!!

Xylitol is naturally found in low concentrations in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables, and can be extracted from various berries, oats, and mushrooms, as well as fibrous material such as corn husks and sugar cane bagasse,[7][8] and birch.[9] However, industrial production starts from xylan (a hemicellulose) extracted from hardwoods[10] or corncobs, which is hydrolyzed into xylose and catalytically hydrogenated into xylitol. A study in rats found that xylitol had reduced or nonexistent side effects compared to other artificial sweeteners, and lower caloric value and cariogenicity than sucrose.[11]
Can you eat store bought meat or are you like my wife? When she eats GMO fed meat, ANY FORM, she gets stay in bed sick for days. When she eats grass fed meat (domestic or wild) she can eats LOTS and does.leila hamaya wrote:one of the major changes in my diet involved becoming an omnivore again.

This sounds a bit better except the GMO corn used. No sense wasting a great poison.

Presumably the necessary bacteria to digest them start to breed, in which case if you use it regularly it will probably be no better for diabetics or candida than natural sugar.

Wow, that's the first I've heard of that! I know that I've had a much harder time losing weight with low carb this go 'round, though that is not uncommon, particularly for a woman of a certain age.
So, is this purely your own experience or have you heard/read of others with similar results? I have recently tried erythititol which tastes similar to xylitol but at least anecdotally for some people produces less of an insulin response.

Common yeast cells used in effectly fermenting and producing xylitol are Candida tropicalis and Candida guilliermondii.

So, Candida can produce xylitol but that doesn't mean it can consume xylitol.
Interesting.
