Would you rather eat licorice or eat candy corn?

Of course I would rather have candy corn, especially because candy corn will be on sale on Saturday.

I would prefer licorice and its anti-inflammatory properties make it a double for the win! :-)

On the other hand, I really like salted nut roll candy bars.......

....... and cramming a handful of virginia peanuts and candy corn at once in your mouth provides the same satisfaction quite frugally...  Ha!

Are we talking about fancy Dutch Licorice?  That's my choice.
Actually, my first choice would be Licorice root (in Tea or tincture form).  
It is said to be good for restoring the Adrenal system, for those who burn the candle at both ends.
Of course I've eaten many a pound of Candy Corn over the years too!

In this case, the lesser of the two evils, for me, is the candy corn - but I don't much care for either of them.

I love licorice, but I've never had candy corn, so I think I would have to try the candy corn (at least once!)

I would rather eat a root.

I tried to grow licorice, many times, but failed… they never got beyond seedling stage before flopping over and dying.

Wait—wouldn’t candy corn literally have been candied corn in former years? That I want to try making!

Licorice tea is awesome if I'm feeling stuffed up or even just a bit draggy. It tends to raise the blood pressure, but mine runs low so a mug/day seems to help when my body tells me it needs it.

Flavored sugar candy is a total no for me. Dark chocolate with nuts is a much safer option.

True! I do add some licorice root to tea or the 'sick soup' I make, that's a hybrid of a soup our TCM doctor made for us (the one time she made a house call, here: licorice root, lemongrass, spring onion, garlic, and ginger) and my own bone broth chicken soup. It's amazing, for healing respiratory distress. So, if the choice is between licorice root and candy corn, I'll happily take the licorice root!

if it's black licorice, I'd have a hard time deciding. I love both (and luckily for my body, I'm almost never on a continent where I can find this kind of candy, so it's a moot point)

Hard salted black licorice from Denmark or Holland or wherever, the only trick is to be sure it's vegetarian.

I'd rather have almost anything else in the world than candy corn.

This is a highly complex question. I am diabetic, so I haven’t had either in many years. If I am going to break my diet, I will choose 3 oz of  quality bourbon. But, sticking within the framework, I would , in normal times, reach for the licorice.  However, if I can only have one handful a year in present times, I will grab the candy corn for the flashback to my childhood.

If it is real licorice, especially the barely sweet, sometimes salty Swedish version (I think it is Swedish or Dutch... somewhere where it is cold anyway), then licorice all day long!

Yet inquiring minds want to know:  When younger, did you nibble one color of each kernal at a time, starting with the yellow portion at the end and progressing to the white tip?  Somehow in those early years, my impressionable mind was convinced that the yellow portion tasted more buttery.... :-)

I eat licorice until I start getting afraid that I'm overdosing, then I stop, wait and eat it again.

I will eat candy corn if it's in front of me, but otherwise, nope!

Candy corn has nostalgia from Thanksgiving at grandmas house (I bet she bought it on sale after Halloween) but either I have outgrown the taste or they really did taste better back then. My favorite was the Candy Indian corn, it had a brown center that was tootsie roll like flavor.

Oh, what a shame! I forgot to make crabapple honey candy to go into town and hand out children. Maybe next year.

Maybe I could’ve even made them something with acorn. Now that would be diabolical indeed.

And those little pumpkins that come in the mix with the candy corn.... absolutely amazing. No way it's all the same.

Candy corn was not to be taken lightly in my home. We got candy 3x a year ….Christmas, Easter, and Halloween.

I love licorice. All Dutch people love licorice (and there are many different kinds of it here, sweet, salt, hard, soft, etc.). My favourite licorice is a soft one with laurel taste.

I don't even know what 'candy corn' is ...

I still do! I like a little bit of candy corn at Halloween, but otherwise black licorice would be my choice.

I don't like either, But I dislike licorice slightly less, so I'll choose it, only the red ropes though, and please not the plant itself, tried it as a kid.  Licorice also tastes a lot like absynthe, which I also don't like.

The 'plant licorice' (we call it 'zoethout', meaning 'sweet wood'), I love the taste of it. But I can not just put such a stick (piece of root) in my mouth, it would break or harm my 'fake front teeth'.

I had a teeth problem in my youth and then got those 'crowns' on three of my front teeth. And two years ago it became an 'implant' with four teeth.

Because I like the taste of licorice root, I have it in tea bags, so I can make a 'tea' of it.

Easy choice: I really enjoy licorice. And, I would rather be kicked in the head with frozen mukluk, than eat candy corn.

Look for the brand Katjes. They make vegan candy - salty fish among them. However Haribo Piratos comes in a vegetarian variety and as far as hard salty licorice goes it doesn't get much better than that.

We don't have candy corn here but even if we did there wouldn't be any contest.
My Danish will be showing but "Djungle vrål" licorice all the way. It's my all time favourite candy. A caution though: it's so salty I've never seen a non Scandinavian eat it without looking like they regret all their life choices.

I'm going to have to go for candy corn because I've never tried it and I think I'd regret it if I had a chance and didn't try it at least once.

To me the closest equivalent to candy corn would be marzipan.

According to Google they are not the same as Candy corn is primarily made from sugar, corn syrup, fondant, and marshmallow, while marzipan is made from almond paste and sugar.
