Hello, I'm curious about the idea of this...

I'm trying to see if people have leads on legit places i can start looking for me to help out and/or potentially be part of. I'm older at 51 and would prefer places that are adult and not the family/younger types.
I do have experience with many things from building to gardening, but I seem to find a lot of places I've seen are either not really what I'm looking for or just looking for free labor and not really interested in building a community. I'm looking for the real deal kinda to thing build and grow with a great community or even just help out and learn more about permaculture and sustainable farming as I'm extremely interested in this and have been for many years.
My skills are..

Iron work, (my first job building bridges/casinos)

Carpentry, framing homes (stick/box/and log cabins, forms, trim/punch-out, doors, windows etc.

Metal Fabrication and metal finishing, grinding and resurfacing and general machine shop work including 5 axis CNC

Electricity as a hobby and sorta part of what I did as a job too. I was a robotics and mechatronics apprentice too and went to school for Industrial Electrical (93% grade) and Pneumatics (around the same % grade) and also have my SACA Gold and Silver Certificates for Electrical Motor Control and SACA Certificates Gold and Silver for Sensor Logic Control A- and B+ graded on those as well.  

Also I have built many hobby systems such as wireless energy transfer coils for an old geo dome greenhouse i once had with joule ringer circuits after the pickup coils to step-up Voltage for super efficient lighting.
I can fix cars,trucks, boats,Computers.....
Sigh.....  list just keeps going. Lol
I was also a professional tattoo artist for many years.
Can also build professional tattoo machines and power supplies for those too! Hahaha although.  That is NOT my life anymore for many,  many reasons lol.
But I think you have an idea of what I can do.
Im looking to NOT be apart of this crazy world anymore and do things in a much more lovable and sustainable way and to be a better me.
I don't drink. I don't do drugs.  And I don't live a wild life anymore. As I'm older in my years I value life MUCH differently than did I. My younger days and would MUCH rather play in the dirt and help things grow than to follow the path of today's society. I don't approve,  I don't accept  it,  and I will have NO part in that madness.
So, with all that in mind,  any recommendations for a good place to start looking would be very appreciated and very helpful.

So it sounds like you're looking to join a commiunity that has been going a while Jason, rather than helping to build one up? Any preferences as to location?

Hi Nancy,  no. I really don't mind helping to build a community that is a genuine community. Im just not to keen on spending my days helping people that are just out for free labor,  ya know. Im not big on people using other people JUST for their own personal gain.
Way to much of that going on already.
Now, working for a community that has honest interests and Intentions is something I'm very okay with.
I love to help and fix.( I'm a fixer lol ) it gives me purpose.
I don't really have a preference on location. I've been just about everywhere already and I get along well with most people. Im not really looking to go to Mississippi or any really oppressive state.  But most i would consider.
Im Originally from the south. But I'm in Minnesota now.
Main this for me is to be around others and feel like I'm part of something bigger than me.
I've lost the last of my family in the covid lock downs and just been kinda searching since then.
Not to set on anything really,  just trying to find purpose and meaning.
And the way things are going I've decided not to be apart of this insanity.  Just going to try and make a difference somewhere and be part of something I feel is in the right direction.
But, I don't do b well with rude and short minded people.
And what I mean by that is i wouldn't be interested in being around that.
