I dug these up today - enough for two meals for us.
beautiful potatoes
Under the fragile skin (which I removed when washing them) the potatoes are a dark violet colour. Inside - a ring of purple.
The best this is that I didn't plant these - they were actually growing in a bed that hasn't had potatoes in (deliberately) for three years. I obviously didn't notice the plant surviving from year to year. These volunteers are from a variety that was given to me a few years ago as 'Skye Blue'. If I were naming them I'd call them something like 'galaxy', as the colour and patterning remind me of the night sky.
Anyone got more beautiful potato pictures to share?
